Can it be done? (pontiac grand am gt Major mod)?

Okay i have a idea its $costly$ i know but can it be done: take the rear axel, driv shaft, transmission, k member just short of everything off a pony car. cut the frame of a 1999 pontiac grand am gt and retro fit it all of the engine,trans,D shaft,rear axel,k-member on the grand am in short keep the body of grand am stock without ripping the body to shreads. /alt idea/keep body,engine compartment and sit the whole thing on a mustang frame (I'm not looking to build a kit car or fiberglass shell of the gt to put on the frame) can it be done at all regaurdless the price any feedback will be helpfull. max stars award for good/realible feedback thanks
