I'm extremely fast,strong and I'm a pretty good grappler for someone who doesn't come from a grappling background I have great takedowns,takedown defense,submissions from the top, I've enter tournaments and I do fairly well.I can take a lot of punishment and I have a lot of power in my hands.Now as far as weakness go even though I have power in my hands I'm not a great striker when it comes to the technical stuff that's how i know I can take a lot of punishment because I've taken my far share of beatings on the feet LOL.Also even though I'm a good grappler from the top not so much from the bottom and that's why my takedown defense is so good because I suck off my back so I train takedown defense extra hard.Also the other thing is my cardio is not great because I have asthma even though most can't tell because I have big muscles but that actually makes it worst because it takes a lot of oxygen to maintain big muscles so it makes my cardio worst.

Why do UFC or MMA fighters only learn standard skills?

People think its impractical to learn anything else. At one time you were laughed at for practicing Karate. GSP and Bas Rotten were the only famous guys who practiced it. Now that Machida has made it more famous people consider it to be practical. Taekwondo is another martial art that is belittled but guys like Anderson Silva, Ben Henderson and Anthony Pettis have black belts and one day more taekwondo practitioners will come out and people will take taekwondo seriously. The same thing can be said about Kung fu practitioners and Silicon practitioners. It takes guys that can adapt a style to MMA in order for people to consider it to be "practical. Before people thought those Crane kicks and front kicks used by Machida and Silva were impractical but they proved people wrong and one day other techniques will make the other martial arts "practical".

Stealthy radio controlled lobster trap?

The waters around long island ny are loaded with lobsters, To catch them the lobster trap has to sit on the bottom at least over night.Commercial lobster men use personalized floats ,witch everybody knows you damn well do not touch period.However when the lobster pirates see a non commercial float there pulling it up every time. So Im thinking of trying this but I need to know how deep a radio signal will go in salt water, if at all. I have a transmitter and servos from a model airplane. The idea is to attach a string to a tennis ball ,the string then attached to the rope from the lobster trap. make a radio controlled latch witch will release the tennis ball, bringing up the rope to the trap. No one knows its there and a grappling hook is not needed. what do you think?

What should I look for in an ideal Tae Kwon Do studio?

Hi, I am a second degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon do. My original studio was great,and i liked it very much. In the last few years though,a new grandmaster took over,and it was very below what i wanted.it turned into a belt mill babysitter club.everybody passed tests no matter what,yearly contracts, "black belt club" ect. I quit for 1 year and now i joined a new dojo. This one was much better in my opinion. I learned more in a month than i could ask for. The problem though was that they lacked in many, many things. One, There was no self defense,grappling,ground fighting,or anything. The only thing they taught was tournament fighting. Also, they taught nothing in punching. I know a good school should teach all of this and more. Also,my new studio wanted me to pay $129 a month and we have to sign a yearly contract or we cant go. The new studio is also only about 5 years old,and there is only one other black belt,a 1st degree. My goal is to be the best possible fighter i can be,and i really would do anything to achieve this. Please explain what i should look for in a new studio. Thank you very much.

My dogs vet thinks its strange my dog responds to 3 different names?

If you've watched the Fight Quest show episode on Filipino Martial Arts which featured Pekiti Tirsia, you'd know they do. As for grappling, while they do teach it, it would depend on the instructor I believe. Most wouldn't include it until a student reaches a very advanced level.

Question about student loans?

I accepted about $12,000 in student loans for the 2011-2012 year. On my award letter the loan is divided into three quarters, fall, winter, and spring. However I am not attending fall quarter. The financial aid office said that is ok, I can accept the loan for the full amount anyway. So will my loan be divided into the 3 quarters, so I get about 4,000 each quarter? Even if I am not attending fall, I will receive the $4,000? I would ask the financial aid office but they NEVER answer their phones and aren't very helpful. How to get into mma as a beginner?

i started mma a couple weeks ago to try and improve my grappling and ground work etc, but i'm finding it a bit hard to keep up with the class. the instructor demonstrates a series of moves (a reverse guillotine for example) and then we pair up and have to do it. i find it pretty hard to remember what to do because its all pretty new to me and the instructor is usually too busy to help me out. i assume i'll get it in the end but is there any way i can practice the moves outside the class so i'm a bit more prepared when it comes to it? i'm up for trying anything really i just want to learn the specific movements.

The mana ratio seems a little low, you should really have 24-25 lands in a deck (for the first deck that is), the 2nd deck seems to have a good number of lands. One thing you should be aware of is that while the first deck is tournament legal, the 2nd one is definitely not. Another issue I see with this deck is that you have a lot of singular cards. Child support....Marine stationed in california?

I am a marine stationed in california and back in september 2010 my ex wife and i had a stipulation written up and we have 2 young children and the stipulation stated i was to pay $800 per month which i have been doing every month it is garnished from my pay. I know UFC fighters are more susceptible to pre fight injury because of slams,grappling,wrestling,etc..,but recently it is crazy to see what is going on. Does jeet kune do and muay thai both include grappling techniques?

Muay Thai has something called clinch wrestling which in itself could be another sport. It involves taking control of your opponent's head/ neck and gaining leverage. From the clinch, you can sweep, throw, or shoot in some knees. There is no ground fighting, however. Just stand up grappling. JKD has a good degree of grappling as well but I'm not too well-versed in that.

WTF Taekwondo for MMA?

A lot of UFC fighters have taekwondo, and yes taekwondo would do well. However, WTF does not allow punching to the face, and as a result it often has people who fight with their hands down. This means it won't help you much against punching. I advise ITF over WTF for MMA or real fighting. If you can't, just practice with punching in mind.

Right I'm realy confused?

I am looking at getting a new .22 lr rifle. The models I have in mind are these. First off i was looking at a Marlin XT-22. It is a new rifle marlin just put out and I have not heard a lot about it. You have the potential to be an amazinger singer, you just need need to fnd your range and type of songs to sings. I think it'd help to sing along to music in the background because that would tell you, more than anything, how you sing when compared to the original song. But regardless, you have YOUR own voice and if you love singing, pursue it. Practice makes perfect. Dominant or submissive?

I have 4 poms, 2 older ones (M & F) & 2 1 1/2 yr M, both of which we got at the same time at 8 and 12 wks old back in Jan. of 2010. At 9 mo.old (Aug. 2010) they starting having minor aggession issues with each other ONLY-older dogs not involved. 1 day it turned aggressive with Bailey pinning Joey down. We tried to pull Bailey off Joey thinking that would do it, but Bailey was not letting go. I did a stupid thing & tried to pry his jaws open only for him to release his jaws & clamp down on my finger, which once he realized it was me, he let go. My husband & I were shocked as we never witnessed this behavior of aggression in the 20 years we have owned poms as pets. Our dogs have had fights but nothing that aggressive. The "boys" were both immediately neutered & separated until we figured out what to do. I've been told to give 1 up to solve the problem, but my dogs are my kids & I refuse to give 1 up without a fight myself. Have done a ton of research on dog aggression, how to handle it, sibling rivalry & the famous "littermate syndrome" which is the category I believe I fall under & feel really stupid that I didn't know alot of this stuff beforehand. Looking back I realize we probably should have let the fight continue & maybe it would have been settled then & there, but I was so terrified that Joey was going to get hurt that I couldn't take the risk, Bailey is 3 wks younger than Joey but also much stronger. Here is the "short" version of the steps we have taken. In Aug. they have had to be in separate rooms for about 3-4 months because they couldn't stand the sight of 1 another. Around Dec.they could at least glance at each other without being aggressive but still didn't want to be in the same room for long without trying to fight. In Jan. I decided that I needed to do more basic training with them as far as sitting, stay, wait, down, etc. & that seemed to work very well. We have been slowly reintroducing themselves to one another for the past 5 mo. now & have made GREAT progress. We are FINALLY to the point where they sometime initally growl at each other but then stop. Keep in mind they are always on leashes or we pick them up to transfer from room to room, & have NOT had any voluntary physical contact with each other whatsoever for the past 10 months. When they are in the same room, we keep them on long leashes with one being tied to one area of the room & the other tied to another area where they can just reach each other without having contact. This has gone very well on most occasions. In the past 3 weeks, we have occassionally let them have more contact (head to head) but not full body & NEVER off the leashes or without 1 of us in between them. At 1 point they were actually licking each other & play barking but eventually would both show signs of domininace with each other, paw on back, head on shoulder, etc, & then eventually lead to Bailey's stare and stance, then the warning growl, & we would quickly have to intervene So finally to the point of my question, in my research I have read that if we have 2 dominant dogs we need to decide which 1 is more dominant & then reward that dog for his dominant behavior by feeding, walking first, etc. I do not agree with this at all. I don't believe you should reward a dog for being a bully but I guess that's not the issue here. If we are to do the next step, I need to know for sure who is more dominant. We believe it is Bailey but are not sure. These are their signs. Bailey is definitely the 1st with the dominant stare & stance but usually doesn't start the dominance signs 1st as far as paw placement & usually doesn't growl first. He's more like a lion waiting for his prey type(I know that's not funny, but I'm trying to find humor in my situation) However, Joey is always more cautious if he knows Bailely is in the next room but always barks or growls first when he's coming towards Bailey. (By that I mean for example, Joey will be upstairs with my husband & when they come down, they are separated by gates but Joey knows Bailey is on the other side of the gate), When they have close contact and are behaving, Joey will ALWAYS be the 1st one to turn away from eye contact. I know this is a submissive sign but he also shows signs of dominance too. I believe Joey acts more submissive but he will definitely respond back if Bailey starts the fight which I know is understandable. But he has never shown full submission and I don't believe he ever wil Also, every time they have close contact, Joey will turn around & put his butt up to Bailey head. Bailey never does this to Joey. Is this dominance or submission? Please no lectures on being selfish & trying to keep them both.They are not in any way being neglected or deprived of anything. If anything, it me & my husband who have had to change our lives but believe they are worth it. Also, do you think after all this

How come people don't know how to fight?

Coming from a long line of Bad Asses With anger issues; The first thing I learned to do was fight properly. I was taught to defend myself. Jab, Straight, hook, I learned it all especially grappling. But I see theese people on TV (like "cheaters") and other shows as well as real life; I see them Swinging and almost falling over and off balance from their own punch. It makes me laugh when they start swinging at eachother and after 6 misses they finally connect having put "All" their energy into a punch which I was taught was idiotic. Well it's not like that at all. And good teachers teach you to avoid a fight by keeping distances and only as a last resort use what you've learnt. It honestly does work in self defense, some people say it's bad because they think their style is best and all the others stink, which isn't true. It's a martial arts, so it does teach self defense. Also if it's something he wants to do, then let him, there's no point getting him into a style he's not interested in.

My mom just lost her job. What should I do?

My mom has been working at Bank of America for 14 years. She has gotten numerous award for her attendance and as well as how hard she worked. Recently there has been an incident that caused her to get introuble and it ended with her getting fired. But what seemed so fishy to me was that they didn't give her no papers after she got fired. On Batman Arkham Asylum, I'm stuck?

After the batcave fills up with Poison Ivy's plants, they want me to escape the batcave and destroy Poison Ivy's plants. Well, I was stuck so I went back in the back in the batcave all the way to the sewer sysetem's overhang and glided off to a grass beam where I pulled a ventilation shaft off the wall to find I couldn't get escape so I went back through the shaft and tried to grapple back to the overhang. AIKIDOKA: "Aikido in a real fight is 70% atemi and 30% technique" (O Sensei). What does that mean to you?

Atemi is not limited to just kicks or hand strikes, any part of your body making contact with the Uke or even a push or an implied attempt to strike like a fake or feint that helps you set him up for the technique is considered atemi. You could say Atemi is to Aikido what Kuzushi is to Judo. If you understand the dynamics of Aikido techniques, that quote is technically plausible and correct. Most people assume that a fight will last more than 5 minutes like those seen in competitions with each party trading blows and exchanging technique against technique. But most self defense incidents happen in split seconds and rarely lasts that long. Think about it, How does an attacking incident usually go down? An example could be some drunk or crazed attacker comes charging at an Aikidoka with fists flying, the Aikidoka evades, parries and transitions, then applies a couple of atemi in the form of a strike to the face, followed by an elbow against his forearm if he's carrying a weapon to dislodge it and maybe slam a hip to the attacker's body for good measure before applying a throw or pinning technique. If you count all that, it basically sums up as Atemi+Atemi+Atemi+Technique. That's 3 quarters of your response attributed to Atemi before you apply a technique. That does not take into account the fact that you might spend the first few moments just dodging and striking at him to keep him at bay before you see an opening with which you can either escape or apply a technique, especially since one of our Sensei's mantra was "Dodge first before parrying", meaning never stay in the same place at any time and keep moving while looking for possible openings.

The point is, now Antique's Roadshow is monitoring Ebay, and if they find someone sells their tickets, they are cancelling ticket numbers. So a perfectly innocent person or pair of persons may drive hundreds of miles to the Roadshow, only to find the tickets are no good because they were "purchased" online. THERE AREN'T THAT MANY BEING SOLD ONLINE!!!!! I think it's just a part of show business that all these antique experts putting on the show need to accept--don't you? Online private owner ticket sales go on for many shows, events, (like sports events.) I think it's NASTY of antiques roadshow. Ticket sales by private parties are just part of the show biz turf. Do universities (especially Ivy League) look at what you do during the summer?

When you applied for a university, there isn't a question that specifically ask what you do during the summer right? You can just put your transcript, awards and achievements, volunteer hours, etc or basically whatever you want? So, I can just get a like a retail job or just hang out with friends during the summer and if I get outstanding national awards and high grades, there is a chance I can get into an Ivy League? So, what you do during the summer can be kept confidential? And by the way, I'm just a high school freshmen, wanting to be a surgeon. Do you think working/volunteering in a health-related field is allow at age 15 or 16? Got three more years to figure out this college thing. And which Ivy League is good for a future medical student? Any tips or advice is appreciated. Thanks =)

i retrain a few of our race horses before i sell them as hacks. Usually i start out with ground manners. Some of them lack this. Try taking her out and leading her around. A big thing with themis that they are used to routine. So i just take them in hand for a few sessions to graze and walk calmly with me ect. Then do some trail rides where you go nothing faster than a trot. A lot a people think ex racers are crazy (ok some are) but mostly i would classify them as reactive. They have been taught their whole lives to react very quickly. You say she rushes. Thats normal. To her its not rushing but to you it is. You have to try exercises that teach her that she is not going to "work" you are not going to ask her to gallop ect... Ride on longer reigns and keep your hands down then slowly adjust to ur style of riding. The circles thing doesnt always work immediately as she may find it confusing and get a bit nervous. Try to approach her training from her mental viewpoint. Schooling is a whole new thing for her. You will have to introduce leg aids slowly as she might over react to that as well. The quickest way i calm down our horses is by taking them out of stables and keeping them in a pasture for the whole day and sometimes night. I will leave them in a paddock to rest for about a week and then start schooling. Start your schooling in a fairly large arena as her scope of movement will probably be quite extended at a canter so small arenas wont give enough space. But as soon as she gets used to the aids that you use and what they mean she should adapt to ur routines pretty easily

Sounds like you have a real shot at Harvard. But it's really impossible to say if you will get in or not because the applicant pool is so beast. But then again you are also a beast. Nobody can really say what will get you in or not, just do what you love and have a good time, then show your passion in the essays.

Why am I so horrible at grappling?

I train in grappling with my friend at my dojo everyday for 3 hours I have done this for 4 weeks while also taking BJJ lessons. BiPolar ex-BFF is still spreading rumors and lies about me?

How can I win a play fight with somebody who is stronger?

I am 13 years old and me and my friend often have little play fights for fun, and he always beats me as he is a lot stronger and faster than me, and he puts a lot more force into the fight. I train in mixed martial arts and I am a huge fan of the sport, so I'm an MMA guy first. With that said I also grew up watching boxing and I love it as well as mma, I'm a fan of both sports. So my question is why don't people think they can co-exist? For all the boxing fans who say that mma is stupid and ' homosexual ' , its not. You can't really understand how difficult the sport is untill you try it. Having to deal with punches, kicks, knees, and elbows as well as clinching, wrestling, submissions and your overall ground game is not easy. It takes alot of skill and grappling is not ' homosexual ' in anyway, Its 2 fighters displaying ground fighting skills. Mma is a chess match and Its the fastest growing sport in the world, its not going anywhere. Now also for all the mma fans saying that boxing is dying, its not. Boxing is perhaps the first huge combat sport worldwide and its a sport of legends & icons, Its not going anywhere either. Based on the schools you've chosen above, I'd say your chances are fine. However, with a GPA like that it will be insanely hard to get in anywhere better. Oh, and colleges don't know that you're required to take religion classes and they don't necessarily know how hard your high school is, so it might be difficult.

either the chiefs or jets. the jets have been one of the best in the league for a few years. but look at at least the safeties (berry and flowers). both have been amazing last year. ive been following berry since college and he makes entire teams better. What should I do with Libby and Bailey so they get along?

My oldest dog Lucy just passed away on saturday she was 10 and a half years old..And we have another dog Libby who is 8 years old she has had Lucy around all her life! And now that Lucy is gone she seamed very lonely so we got her a new puppy friend Bailey who is 8 weeks old, Libby came with us when we picked up Bailey and Libby seamed fine they did there sniffing and everything and they were both wagging there tails. When we brought them home it was nothing like that ! Libby wont go near Bailey and every time Bailey tries to go and play Libby growls at her to go away. What should we do so they get along? Why is randomness in suffering?

I am a young mother suffering from terminal cancer, would leave my children motherless, that breaks my heart. Why am I so horrible at grappling?

I train in grappling with my friend at my dojo everyday for 3 hours I have done this for 4 weeks while also taking BJJ lessons. Then I grappled someone who did wrestling for 2 years and about a month of grappling who cleaned the floor with me. He was even under my weight and height. Also the wrestling was just highschool.

Hi, I'm currently on parole in nys for a class b drug possession (CPCS 3rd). My merit termination date is quickly approaching, July 8th, and I'm wondering how many people are actually awarded termination on average. Ok I am 16 years old (male). I am not really big, but I work out alot and stay in shape. I am pretty ripped up, and I am very strong for my size. I am in the 11th grade. Anyway, some older guys got in trouble last weekend about fighting. 2 guys who graduated and a senior was meeting some other guy at a gas station and was going to fight him, but a cop showed up in the guys truck instead and caught them. The driver of the three guys had a gun and other weapons in his car. So anyway, the guys 15 year old brother sent me a message on facebook and was like what you been saying about my brother and I was like nothing. He was like I heard you have been telling people about him getting in trouble and I was like no but everyone already knows. So he was like well I heard you dont like him and I was like I havent talked to him in like a year so how can i not like him, is your bro pissed at me? And he was like well if i keep hearing crap im gonna be pissed. I was just like maybe the person your hearing it from is starting stuff. then he got offline. I know i could take this guy pretty easily, but if I have to fight him, he will probably get his bro and all his bros friends to try to fight me. Im not sure if this will turn into a fight or not, or if it was just an exchange of words or what it was. But I dont care to fight the 15 year old but his brother is like 19 or 20 and his bros friends will probably jump in. I cant run away and I cant tell on them because I will not get a rep like that. Im thinking Im about to get to the point in life where Im just going to man up and fight anybody that wants some no matter how old or big. And by the way, the 15 year olds brother is not big at all. Im bigger than him and I think I might could take him, but I dont think he fights fair. I have only been in one real fight, never took lessons or anything, but the one fight I won. How do you grapple with being grateful but wanting more?

I have started to express gratitude in my life more than ever, and I have noticed considerable positive changes in my level of happiness and contentment. I even go as far as to write down 5 things in my day that I am grateful for before going to bed. With that said, what are some strategies for balancing gratitude with moving forward, with realizes goals, dreams and aspirations? For example, say a single mother is able to just barely put food on the table for her children one night...Wonderful! To express gratitude in that moment is health-producing and powerful. However...what if she wants more than just barely making ends meet? How does one negotiate feelings of gratitude with striving do do better, be better, have better? Any thoughts on this would be great, thank you!

In BJJ, how important is sparring?

Sparring (rolling) is where you learn the practical application of your technique. There's no way to quantify "how much better" you'd be (I dunno, five grappling points better? 37 XP closer to LV 1?) but you will improve faster if you spar more. In addition, I'd suggest sparring with a specific goal in mind, like looking for a Kimura or defending mount, as well as asking your sparring partners for feedback. Martial arts is as much an intellectual pursuit as a physical one, so keep your mind working.

for breakfast you need grains not a gigantic protein boost from peanut butter. just have a little sandwich for breakfast. turkey breast very thin slice two pieces with a thing of lettuce and whatever you want on it. and if your worried about losing weight its not food that is the major thing but a mixture of working out like running (not weights) and trying to go negative in calories... that's just if your interested in losing weight

If you were working or had unusual family obligations or some big living condition problem, all of those are justifications that help make a case for the showing leniency and bending the rules. Sure it's making an excuse and all that, but you are making an appeal. It's like a court proceeding. You have to present a case for yourself.

How to get into mma as a beginner?

i started mma a couple weeks ago to try and improve my grappling and ground work etc, but i'm finding it a bit hard to keep up with the class. the instructor demonstrates a series of moves (a reverse guillotine for example) and then we pair up and have to do it. i find it pretty hard to remember what to do because its all pretty new to me and the instructor is usually too busy to help me out. i assume i'll get it in the end but is there any way i can practice the moves outside the class so i'm a bit more prepared when it comes to it? i'm up for trying anything really i just want to learn the specific movements.
